When people picture a vending machine, they picture chips and soda. That's still most of what moves through any machine, but it's far from the whole picture — the right non-food items can make a machine feel like it was actually built for the space it's in, instead of dropped there generically. Here's how we think about it.
Household basics — especially for apartment communities
Residents run out of everyday things at inconvenient hours, and a leasing office isn't always open when it happens. Laundry detergent pods, dish soap, paper towels, and cleaning wipes turn a vending machine into a genuine 9pm convenience stop instead of just a snack stop — which is exactly why it's a focus for our apartment community machines.
Personal care and over-the-counter basics
Offices and medical facilities in particular tend to do well with items people forget until they need them right now: phone chargers and cables, earbuds, pain relievers, allergy medication, and bandages. None of it is exciting, but all of it solves a real, immediate problem for whoever's standing there.
Gym and fitness supplies, beyond the cooler
Protein bars and electrolyte drinks are the obvious fit for a gym floor, but the non-food side matters too — things like lifting straps, gym socks, and deodorant round out a mix built for people who showed up to work out, not to shop. See our gym vending page for how we approach the full mix.
Where it gets more novel: collectibles and specialty items
Trading cards, small toys, and other collectible or novelty items are a growing niche in the vending world — more of an entertainment or retail play than a convenience one. It's not a category we've built out yet, but it's a good example of how far "vending machine" can stretch once you stop assuming it means snacks.
The point isn't the item — it's the fit
None of this works as a one-size-fits-all list. A product mix that makes sense in an apartment clubhouse would miss the mark entirely in a warehouse break room. We build the starting mix around your specific space during your free on-site evaluation, then keep adjusting it based on what's actually selling — see our industries page for how the mix changes by space type.
